Honda Malaysia has announced a "precautionary update" for 87,182 units of Honda vehicles in the country, involving the following models: 2003-2008 Honda City, 2003-2008 Honda Civic, 2002-2007 Honda CR-V, 2004-2006 Honda Jazz and 2004-2005 Honda Stream.
The recall exercise follows the recent announcement made by Honda Motor Co regarding a global recall on 4.9 million vehicles, and will see the replacement of the Takata-made driver and passenger airbag inflators with newly-produced inflators on all affected models.

Honda Malaysia says the precautionary measures do not affect its current selling models, and adds it deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to all affected customers.
The company will be informing all customers involved via notification letters which will include details of the product update. Customers who receive these letters are advised to send their vehicles to the nearest authorized Honda dealer for inspection.
The replacement works will be carried out once the parts are ready and the costs of parts and labour will be borne by Honda Malaysia.
Honda Malaysia continues to urge owners of Honda vehicles affected for the product updates to get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any authorised Honda dealers as soon as possible. Vehicle owners can check their vehicle's product update status by calling Honda's Toll Free number at 1-800-88-2020 or visit any authorised Honda dealer.
