The team's two TS040 Hybrid cars will once again battle Audi and Porsche with the aim of retaining its drivers' and manufacturers' world champion titles. As 2014 champions, Toyota will take the No.1 and No.2 plates for its cars. Car No.1 will feature Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Buemi, who jointly claimed the 2014 drivers' title, alongside Kazuki Nakajima. Alex Wurz, Stephane Sarrazin and Mike Conway will share duties in car No.2. An announcement regarding a test and reserve driver will be made in the coming weeks. "We have worked with all our drivers for a long time now and have developed very strong relationships. This stability and consistency has been a significant part of our recent success so it was a priority when planning for 2015 and beyond," said team president Yoshiaki Kinoshita. "Based on our experiences in 2014, we have decided to modify the line-ups for each car and we believe this will give us the optimum overall performance as the individual driving styles are now well matched. All our drivers are WEC race winners and we are confident they will add to their tally this season and in the future," he added. The WEC line-up announcement came on the same day where Toyota confirmed plans for a World Rally Championship entry in 2017. In the top rally series, the Yaris WRC will be battling factory efforts by Ford, Citroen, Hyundai and current champions Volkswagen. "To run two works motorsport programmes simultaneously (WEC and WRC) is of course a challenge but we believe we have the expertise and determination to succeed. There is much to do as we make the journey back to WRC but to have received the support of Toyota Motor Corporation and our president Akio Toyoda is already very encouraging," said Kinoshita, who is also president of Toyota Motorsport GmbH. And winter means reduced visibility - this means a lot of the cars that" New post on Paul Tan's Automotive News SPIED: BMW 3 Series F30 LCI shows new tail lamps by Paul Tan It's winter now in the northern hemisphere - this means most if not all the spyshots sent in by our European spy photography providers will be of future cars having fun in the snow. And winter means reduced visibility - this means a lot of the cars that are caught will have their headlamps and tail lamps on, revealing new design details that couldn't be seen before. This particular F30 LCI 3-Series had its tail lamps on so we can clearly see the new graphics that BMW will be using for its updated compact executive. It appears to be a two bar design that makes a little loop and joins together towards the outer edge of the tail lamp. This is actually very similiar to what we've seen on the recently unveiled 1-Series LCI and the upcoming all-new G11 7-Series. You can see it in the two images embedded just above - the one on the left is a spyshot of the 7-er's tail lamps while the one on the right is the 1-Series LCI. This particular 3-Series prototype also had the words "Hybrid Test Vehicle" on the side. The F30 LCI will get a new plug-in hybrid variant which will indirectly replace the (non-plug-in) ActiveHybrid3. It will use a four-cylinder engine instead of the six-cylinder in the model it will replace. The plug-in 3-Series will have an all-electric mode, which can be active at up to 120 km/h and as far as 35 km. The lithium-ion battery can be re-charged (through a plug on the front left fender) at any household power socket, and the new power pack takes up less boot space. The 'SV' title is only applied to hardcore Lamborghinis, so you can probably expect this to be lighter and more powerful - perhaps the 720 PS tune from the limited edition LP 720-4 or even more? This appears to be a production car undergoing a professional photo shoot of sorts, as one of the photos sent by our spy photographers show an SUV with a photography rig tailing it. There's also a sticker with the letter 'SV' on the car if there was ever any doubt this was an SV car. The changes we can observe are a different front bumper, rear diffuser and a big wing. The exhaust output is now four tail pipes instead of just one on the regular Aventador. The tail pipes don't really look finished so we guess this can't be a photoshoot for the official unveiling?
