The production version of the SsangYong X100 - first shown as the XLV Concept in Geneva earlier this year and then previewed as the XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure in Paris - will make its domestic market debut in January. Ahead of that, the Indian-owned Korean automaker has revealed the upcoming SsangYong Tivoli - named after the Italian town just outside of Rome - via a couple of teaser images.
The B-segment SUV is set to take the fight to competitors such as the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, Ford EcoSport and Peugeot 2008. Engine options will consist of new SsangYong-designed Euro 6-compliant 1.6 litre petrol and turbodiesel four-cylinder units, paired with either six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, in front-wheel or all-wheel drive guise.
The Tivoli is the automaker's first offering to showcase the brand's new "Nature born – 3 Motion" design language. As the XLC Concept, the form stretched the tape at 4,430 mm long, but the length was trimmed to 4,195 mm by the time the XIV siblings appeared, so the Tivoli is expected to measure in at just under 4.2 metres in its series form.
Specifications and details haven't been revealed, but as previewed by the XIV, the Tivoli should have a raft of safety kit, with ESP, hill hold assist and seven airbags (including one for the driver's knee) in the mix. More when the SUV makes its debut in Korea next month.
