PLUS Malaysia has announced that it will place personnel at the Bukit Kayu Hitam toll plaza to sell Touch 'n Go and PLUSMiles card as well as SmartTAG devices prior to adoption of cashless transactions at multiple toll plazas nationwide. Come September 9, a total of 12 toll plazas will switch to the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system that requires the use of a SmartTAG device, Touch 'n Go or PLUSMiles card.

"We are also selling the cards in Thailand and have been creating awareness of the ETC system through announcements over there. The Thai authorities have also been notified on our ETC move in Bukit Kayu Hitam," said Mohammad Fuad Khusairi, COO of PLUS Malaysia, in a report by The Star.

PLUS is currently selling PLUSMiles cards with a pre-loaded value of RM5 for RM5 until December 31 and SmartTAG devices at RM96 per unit inclusive of GST until September 30. The concessionaire has, reportedly, sold over 5,000 Touch 'n Go cards since Monday.

The list of toll plazas set to adopt the ETC system include the Penang Bridge, SMART Highway, Dato Keramat plaza on the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway, Air Panas, Sentul Pasar and Batu plazas on the DUKE Expressway, Jitra and Bukit Kayu Hitam on the Nouth-South Expressway, Lunas and Kubang Semang on the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway and Gombak and Bentong plazas on the KL-Karak Highway.
