Even as order books for the new Civic Type R open in the UK, Honda UK is closing the pre-order bank for the Honda NSX. Over 100 customers have placed orders since the much anticipated and delayed new NSX was first displayed at Detroit and Geneva motor shows, as well as UK's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
"We are delighted that so many customers have placed orders for the highly desirable NSX. We very much look forward to delivering the NSX to these customers," said Leon Brannan, head of car at Honda UK.
Honda UK started taking pre-orders for the NSX in April last year. Punters only had to shell out a £5,000 (RM26,935) deposit at any Honda UK dealership to be one of the first owners of the Ohio, USA-made NSX when it is delivered next year.
The new NSX will make use of a Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) three-motor high-performance hybrid system, with a mid-mounted direct-injected VTEC V6 mated to an electric motor and a dual clutch transmission. This combination drives the rear wheels; meanwhile, another pair of electric motors drive the front wheels and can provide instant positive or negative torque during cornering.
