BMW-Active-Tourer-Hybrid-2

When BMW previewed the 2-Series Active Tourer in concept form at Paris 2012 as the BMW Concept Active Tourer, it was presented with a hybrid powertrain, mating a 1.5 litre three-cylinder engine driving the front wheels to a synchronous electric motor driving the rear axle.

It looks like BMW might be looking to bring the concept's powertrain to a production car as well. This BMW 2-Series Active Tourer prototype was sighted with a sticker saying 'Hybrid Test Vehicle' at the rear. The concept's hybrid system's combined power output is 190 horsepower and 200 Nm, able to take the car to from a stand still to 100km/h in about 8 seconds.

The electric motor can power the car's rear wheels in zero emissions EV mode for about 30 km on a full charge. Of course those are all concept car figures, but production car numbers could be close.
