Audi has announced a new rapid limo. The Audi S8 plus sits above the current S8 and is capable of 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h (or limited to 250 km/h if you don't trust your chauffeur). Who needs a supercar again?

Audi has further developed the 4.0 TFSI engine for the S8 plus. The V8 biturbo unit now has 605 hp (85 hp more than the regular S8) and max torque of 700 Nm, or 750 Nm in overboost mode. Mods to the engine range from its unique engine control with speed and charge pressure boosting, to modified exhaust valves and the inner geometry of the turbocharger that was optimised for efficiency.

An eight-speed automatic gearbox channels drive to a quattro AWD drivetrain with a sport differential. Chassis highlights include the adaptive air suspension sport and dynamic steering, both of which were tuned specifically for the S8 plus. The aluminium-bodied, standard wheelbase limo can accommodate 21-inch wheels with 275/35 tyres.

In addition to the delimited top speed, carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic brakes with anthracite-gray brake calipers and the Audi ceramic logo, the dynamic package also includes a sport exhaust system modified by quattro GmbH. It gives the S8 plus an unmistakably sporty V8 sound characteristic, Audi says.

Plenty of cues to mark the S8 plus as the sportiest in the A8 family - there's a spoiler lip on the rear lid (in carbon fibre if you like), flaps in the side air inlets and blade on the front apron in CF, and gloss black bits on the grille and window frame.

There are also darkened tail lights and a gloss black diffuser insert with carbon surround at the rear. The sport exhaust system branches into two oval gloss black tailpipes on each side.

Inside, contrasting stitching in Arras Red is used throughout the black full-leather interior. The headlining and rear parcel shelf are covered in black Alcantara. Trim wise, a contrasting red thread is woven into the upper inlay. The lower inlay is designed in brushed aluminium.

As with the S8, there are gray dials with an S8 logo on the tacho, a decorative red ring on the start-stop button, and an S8 logo on the three-spoke sport steering wheel.

The performance may take headlines, but this is still a luxury limo at the end of the day, so things like Audi pre sense plus, four-zone auto air con, Bose surround sound and MMI navigation plus with MMI touch and Matrix LED headlamps are all available. It will be available in Germany at the end of November from 145,200 euros (RM612,296).
