The first of the latest generation of MINIs – the classic three-door hatch – has already been launched in Malaysia in Cooper and Cooper S form. The F56 hatch will form the base of a whole new line-up of MINIs. In this set of spyshots we can see three different upcoming models - a five-door hatch, a six-door Clubman wagon and a convertible for those who plan to cruise around Bangsar with the top down.
The lead image shows a five-door Cooper S next to a prototype Clubman. The latter has already been previewed in the form of a concept car at this year's Geneva show. As you can see, the five-door is a lot shorter, with a more sloping rear. Meanwhile, the MINI cabrio is as you would expect, but there is a new front apron reminiscent of the JCW concept that is more aggressive than the one on the current Cooper S.
Expect the new MINI variants to carry the same powertrains as the three-door – a 136 hp/220 Nm 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder on Cooper models and a 192 hp/280 Nm 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder on Cooper S models. The inevitable fire-breathing John Cooper Works model will also appear at some point down the line.
