The Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing is now on sale, although prospective buyers will need to move fast, as this is a 100-unit limited edition, including 10 right-hand-drive units for the UK.
Developed by Citroen Racing, the DS3 Cabrio Racing's 207 hp 1.6-litre THP engine – shared with the DS3 Racing – delivers 30% more power and 15% more torque than the standard THP 155 unit on which it is based. 0-100 km/h is achieved in just 6.5 seconds and top speed is 232 km/h. Mods include re-mapping of the ECU, a sports exhaust system and silencer, and a modified turbo with carbon-trimmed components.
In the chassis department, there's a "high-performance suspension" with adapted shock absorbers, 30 mm wider front/rear tracks, lowering of the car by 15 mm, revised steering mapping and a modified steering control system, uprated brakes with four-piston racing front calipers and switchable ESC.
The DS3 Cabrio Racing comes in a Moondark Matte Grey body colour, with a black fabric roof and 18-inch 'Nemesis' alloys, complemented by red centre caps and brake calipers. It's also hard to miss the red vertical stripe down each of the doors.
The colour scheme continues inside the cabin with Alcantara trimmed and embossed Citroen Racing seats with red stitching and headrest inserts. The vertical stripe makes another appearance on the dashboard. A numbered plaque, positioned in front of the gear lever, highlight's the model's limited edition status.
The DS3 Cabrio Racing is based on the top DSport trim, which includes LED DRLs, automatic air-con and rear parking sensors, RDS radio, steering mounted controls, Bluetooth and eight speakers.
We won't be getting this one here, but Naza Euro Motors recently launched the standard DS3 hatchback in Malaysia. The baby DS is available in a sole 1.6 VTi 120 automatic guise for RM117,888. Click here for the launch report and pics.
