Here it is guys, the new 2016 Lexus LX facelift. For 2016, the big SUV gets major aesthetic updates (only the door panels remain unchanged), together with a new transmission and a host of new safety features.

On the outside, the LX gets a one-piece spindle grille that is accented by a satin chrome trim to sport a more aggressive fascia. It also receives new LED head- and tailights, plus revised bumpers all around. Going round the side, this new one gets 20-inch split 10-spoke wheels as standard, with a 21-inch option available.

Powertrain-wise, the huge 5.7 litre V8 engine stays, with the same 383 hp and 546 Nm of torque available. The drivetrain, however, has been updated, the ageing six-speed gearbox has been swapped for a new eight-speed automatic transmission instead, similar to other updated Lexus models. The Torsen limited-slip differential is retained this time round.

Inside, a Panoramic view monitor and automatic temperature control, "Climate Concierge," now comes as standard, alongside a 12.3-inch head unit with Lexus usual Remote-Touch Interface. In the back, passengers are kept busy with larger 11.5-inch screens, USB ports, as well as controls in the armrest that allow the second-row passengers to adjust the air-conditioning and audio systems.

Drivers who opt for comfort or the choice to go off-road are in for a joy, with the addition of the new Drive Mode Select, with four modes to choose from; Eco, Comfort, Sport and Sport +. Each selection will automatically tune the throttle and suspension, which works in tandem with the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and dampings to enhance ride comfort.

The updated Lexus Safety System+ suite has been plonked into the new SUV. This includes ten airbags, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Now standard across the LX range is the Intuitive Park Assist and SmartAccess System with card key. Pretty LuXurious don't you think?
