As previously reported, the Land Rover Discovery Sport will be launched in Malaysia on August 22-23 on the Ground Floor Fore Court at 1 Utama, but what you probably didn't know is that the event will also feature a Land Rover Terrapod mobile track, transforming into what Land Rover Malaysia calls "a sprawling off-road terrain of steep slopes and inclines" at the push of a button.

Visitors will be able to get a ride in the seven-seater (or more correctly, 5+2) SUV as it showcases its all-terrain chops on the track – to register for the ride, head over to the event website. Early birds will also receive a limited edition Land Rover iPhone 6 cover, while stocks lasts.

Previewed back in May at an off-road experience event in Sepang – with a Yulong White 2.2D SD4 variant being showcased – the Disco Sport will be available in Si4 and SD4 variant forms here, equipped with a Ford-sourced 240 PS/366 Nm 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine and a Ford/PSA 190 PS/420 Nm 2.2 litre turbodiesel respectively. Both engine variants will be paired with a ZF nine-speed automatic transmission.

Globally, four trim levels (S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury) are available, as are 12 exterior colours, but the preview provided no indication of what level of kit and options the Malaysian-spec Disco Sports would have. Neither was there any details on the expected pricing, and there still isn't – guess we'll have to wait until launch day to get the lowdown.
