It's all change again this year. Just in time for the start of the 2014 Formula 1 season in Melbourne, Australia this weekend, four-time world championship-winning team Infiniti Red Bull Racing has released this cool video, explaining the vast rule changes – the most drastic in recent F1 history – that have come into effect.
Watch the clip above to see new Red Bull recruit Daniel Ricciardo and his teammate and current world champion Sebastian Vettel talk through the new 1.6 litre turbocharged V6 engine, eight-speed sequential gearbox and the game-changing hybrid energy recovery system (ERS).
Like that's not enough, the 2014 F1 rule changes also mandate a 20% downforce reduction through a narrower front wing, the exclusion of the exhaust blown diffuser, as well a 30%-smaller fuel tank to complete the unchanged race distance. And oh, engine count is down from eight to just five for the whole season too.
What the video does not cover, however, is the new look of this year's Formula 1 cars. Yes, some of them are monstrosities, but on the flip side, at least the Mercedes-powered Williams team will run the famed Martini Racing livery in F1 again. Here's to an exciting season for Formula 1!
