16 years after the last one rolled off the production line, the Suzuki Vitara has finally been revived, this time as a small SUV that slots under the current Grand Vitara and looks to fight cars like the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and Ford EcoSport.

The styling is based on the iV-4 concept shown at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Only one image and a teaser video have been released so far, but judging by how intact the concept's design appears to be from the front, we're expecting the rear of the car to be quite similar as well.

The Vitara will be available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines which Suzuki claim produce low carbon dioxide emissions as well as "outstanding" fuel economy in its class. Buyers will also be able to spec an optional ALLGRIP four-wheel drive system, as well as various colour and trim customisation options.

Making its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, the new Suzuki Vitara will make its way to UK showrooms beginning next spring.
