Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 (35)

Mercedes-Benz has announced updates for the X156 GLA-Class, C117 CLA-Class and W246 B-Class - the revision work includes the new kit that went on to the facelifted W176 A-Class.

All three model ranges can now be specified with adaptive damping suspension as well as Dynamic Select, which offers four driving modes (Comfort, Sport, Eco and Individual - the GLA gets a fifth called Off-Road). Also on, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink integration from the beginning of next year.

A new nomenclature for the drive system in these model series has also been introduced. The petrol models continue sans suffix, but a lower-case letter "d" has superceded the previous CDI abbreviation. The B-Class Electric Drive is now called B 250 e, while the natural-gas variant is tagged the B 200 c.

Specific range changes include a new base model for the second-gen B-Class - the B 160 rolls in as the entry-level variant, and is powered by a 1.6 litre four-pot offering 102 PS and 180 Nm of twist. Performance specs include a 190 km/h top speed and a 0-100 km/h time of 10.6 seconds.

Also to be found, a 109 PS and 260 Nm 1.5 litre A 180 d BlueEfficiency Edition promising a fuel consumption of 3.6 litres per 100 km (on the NEDC cycle, that is) as well as a new elbaite green body colour, available from the end of the year.

As for the CLA, the M 270 DE 20 2.0 litre on the 250 Sport and 250 Sport 4Matic variants feature the slight power hike as seen on the A-Class facelift, bumping up output from 211 PS to 218 PS - torque remains at 350 Nm.

Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 4MATIC Shooting Brake (X117) 2014

The CLA Shooting Brake range, meanwhile, gets three new models - a CLA 180 d with 109 PS and 260 Nm as well as two all-wheel drive versions called the CLA 200 d 4Matic (136 PS and 300 Nm) and CLA 220 d 4Matic (177 PS and 350 Nm).

Finally, revisions to the GLA, and these include a power hike for the GLA 220 d model - output is now 177 PS (an additional seven PS from before). As standard, the GLA now features a larger 7-inch free-standing display screen, together with a high-gloss piano-black front panel and a flush-fitting frame in Silvershadow (as seen on the 2015 CLA 200 that was introduced in Malaysia recently). If COMAND Online is specified, the screen is an 8-inch unit.
