Looks like the people at Audi are really taking advantage of the summer sun - a prototype of the second-generation 2017 Audi Q5 has been spotted running about in Spain by our spy photographers once again. Less than a month ago, we were provided with similar shots of said SUV undergoing testing. Whether or not this is the exact same prototype, we're not sure as the amount of camouflage appears to be just as thick.

However, from the photos provided, we can deduce that the next-generation Audi Q5 will mirror the design language seen on the second-generation Audi Q7. That is to say it will feature a relatively conservative approach with the marque's trademark Singleframe front grille flanked by trapezoidal headlights - expect the Q5 to offer matrix beam LED units as a cost option.

Moving on, the Audi Q5 is expected to feature a familiar-looking rump as the presence of revised taillamp graphics and a dual exhaust setup appear to be the only visible visual cues. On the inside, the new Q5 should possess the same architecture as the Q7 along with the marque's Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster.

Under the skin, the 2017 Audi Q5 will ride on the MLB Evo platform, which should allow it to shed roughly 100 kg from its overall weight. In terms of engine options, word on the vine is that the Q5 will feature the same range of powerplants as the B9-generation Audi A4 - expect turbocharged four- and six-cylinder mills, then. Also, an e-tron plug-in hybrid variant is expected to join the family soon after.
