The latest Mk7 edition of Volkswagen's top of the line Golf is here. Reader Teng Yong Jian sent us these photos of a single Golf R Mk7 on a trailer in Glenmarie, finished in the Golf R's signature blue colour.
Volkswagen Malaysia currently still lists the Mk6 Golf R on its website for RM268,888, but we managed to find a Mk7 Golf R listed on oto.my for RM300k. The price is mentioned to be an estimation only and no other specs are mentioned. However since an ad is up, bookings must be open.
The new Golf R produces 300 PS and 380 Nm of torque from its 2.0 litre EA888 engine, a big improvement over the Malaysian spec Mk6 Golf R's older EA113 2.0 litre motor's 255 PS and 330 Nm.
Internationally, the Mk7 Golf is available with either a manual gearbox or a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox. We're expecting only the latter to be available here in Malaysia. A DSG-equipped Mk7 Volkswagen Golf R will do the 100km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds - pretty quick!
