The Dodge Challenger has been facelifted for the 2015 model year, and although it may not look very different at first glance, the refreshed pony car has more than a few new tricks up its bicep-filled sleeves.
Let's start with the looks. Said to be inspired by the 1971 model, the 2015 Challenger has a split front grille and a larger hood bulge. Head and fog lamps are now projectors; the former embellished by LED rings. There're also new split LED tail lamps, plus new body colours and wheel options.
Inside, there's a new 8.4-inch Uconnect touch-screen with Dodge Performance Pages (configurable drive modes) and a seven-inch TFT display. Also new are an electric power steering with Normal, Comfort and Sport steering modes, and launch control.
The interior itself is all-new, says Dodge, packing a high-sill centre console, driver-focussed instrument panel, aluminium bezels and 14 colour and trim choices. There's also a new sculpted-rim steering wheel.
Eight versions in all - SXT and SXT Plus get a 305 hp/363 Nm 3.6 litre Pentastar V6, while R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Shaker and R/T Plus Shaker are powered by a 375 hp/556 Nm 5.7 litre HEMI V8. Finally, there's a 485 hp/644 Nm 6.4 litre HEMI V8 for Scat Pack and Scat Pack Shaker variants.
V6 models come only with an eight-speed TorqueFlite auto, while V8 models get a six-speed manual as standard and the eight-speed auto as an option. Safety's also been bumped up with the addition of forward collision warning, blind spot, adaptive cruise control and rear cross path detection systems.
