Skoda, the Volkswagen Group-owned Czech automaker, has started teasing its new compact (B-segment) hatchback, the 2015 Skoda Fabia. The released sketch and headlight photo don't really leave much for the imagination, especially if viewed together with our revealing spyshots in the gallery below.
Adopting Skoda's recent squared-up look – put to good use on the latest Rapid, Octavia and Yeti – the third-generation Fabia appears to be quite a looker. It's even said to have taken elements off the sweet Skoda VisionC concept unveiled earlier this year.
Described to have "well-balanced and tight proportions," the new small hatchback will sit 90 mm wider and stand 30 mm lower than the second-gen Fabia. That should bode well for the interior, which is said to be all new and more versatile than before. Individual options for customisation are also on the cards.
Rumours are that the new Fabia will stick to the existing VW Group PQ25 platform – shared with the current Volkswagen Polo - instead of jumping on the modular MQB bandwagon like the Golf-sized Octavia. As usual, the Fabia will have the bevy of Volkswagen engines and transmission, at lower prices of course.
A budget Polo, then. Now wouldn't that be fab?
