After some local sightings and a number of teasers on Facebook, Nasim has finally unveiled the facelifted Peugeot 3008 at Queensbay Mall this afternoon. The refreshed C-segment crossover carries a number of tweaks designed to sharpen the car's looks as well as to bolster the driving experience.
First introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the 3008 has been given a new face, which brings it in line with Peugeot's latest design language. The new front apron features new fog light surrounds and a new grille bearing the "Peugeot" script.
The directional bi-xenon headlights with automatic levelling and LED daytime running lights now have a claw design like the 2008, while the tail lights now feature LED technology arranged in the company's signature triple-claw design. New 17-inch "Aregia" diamond-cut alloy wheels complete the aesthetic changes.
Inside, the 3008 features darker upholstery, new trim on the centre console and a flat-bottomed steering wheel with silver inserts. Some new kit has also crept in, including a colour head-up display (HUD), a top-mounted retractable seven-inch LCD screen with navigation and an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat.
Also new is the Peugeot Park Assist with Available Space Management (ASM), which utilises the ten parking sensors front and rear and measures the size of the potential parking space, informing the driver of the feasibility of the manoeuvre. A rear-view camera now comes standard, whose image is displayed on the central display with markings to make parking easier still.
Under the bonnet sits a revised version of the familiar Prince 1.6 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, now producing 165 PS at 6,000 rpm (an increase of 9 PS over the outgoing model) and 240 Nm at 1,400-4,250 rpm. Mated to a six-speed automatic, it can go from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 202 km/h. Average fuel consumption is rated at 7.7 litres per 100 km.
The rest of the specifications remain unchanged, so the 3008 still comes with six airbags, ESP and ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, among other features such as the panoramic glass roof with powered blinds and automatic headlights and wipers.
Nasim claims the new 3008 is pivotal to the brand's 2014 sales target of 7,000 units. The car is one of a number of key launches for Peugeot this year, including the 2008 in January as well as the next-generation 308 later on in the year.
Pricing for the new Peugeot 3008 is RM153,888 an increase of exactly RM10,000 over the previous model. Two new colours are available – Rogue Red and Bourrasque Blue, joining the previously available colours of Pearl White, Aluminium and Nera Black. As with all Peugeots, the 3008 comes with a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty as well as a 24-hour Peugeot Assistance service.
