This gorgeous tail light cluster belongs to a new Citroen DS model, which has been teased ahead of its unveiling at the Beijing International Auto Show later this month. The car is very likely a crossover previewed by the Wild Rubis concept (pictured below) in Shanghai last year.
The company claims that the new model – which will reportedly gain the DS X7 moniker – "marries power and refinement". Very little is known at the moment, but that "power" should come from the Prince turbocharged 1.6 litre THP engine in 200 hp and 163 hp flavours. A 139 hp naturally-aspirated 1.8 litre engine is also expected to be available.
The SUV will be based on a stretched version of PSA Peugeot Citroen's FP2 platform that also underpins the DS5 and the DS 5LS. Interestingly, it will reportedly hit the Chinese market (which the car is designed for) as well as other Asian countries, but not Europe despite the strong demand for crossovers there. Production will be based in China through the Changan-PSA joint venture.
The new car won't be the only world premiere at Citroen's stand in Beijing – earlier the French brand took the wraps off the DS 5LS R, a hot 300 hp version of the designed-for-China sedan.
