Focus ST facelift

Ford is set to premiere its third-generation Focus ST facelift this coming weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The mid-life makeover for the five-door ST follows on the introduction of the regular facelifted Focus range back in February.

The C346 ST has been around since June 2012, when it made its market debut (it was unveiled in production form in Frankfurt in 2011), and spyshots from last August reveal that not too much has been revised externally. Ford has released a teaser pix showing a new headlamp design (as well as a teaser video of the car), and there should be a new front grille layout in the frontal mix, as intimated by the spyshots.

Other than that, there shouldn't be too many visual changes outside, but the interior should get a more significant rework - Ford says that the new ST will benefit from the technology and quality improvements revealed earlier this year for the facelifted Focus, which translates to better quality material and trim.

The biggest news about the car is the confirmation of a diesel-powered version to the ST fold - no official details as yet, but reports have indicated that a 2.0 litre TDCi oil burner, good for 184 PS, will be found under the hood. As for regulation fare, the current 250 hp and 340 Nm 2.0 litre EcoBoost should carry over pretty much unchanged. Wonder if the Estate variant will be retained.
