it still looks pretty fresh and was just launched in Malaysia early last year, but the current generation Honda CR-V actually made its debut at the 2011 LA Auto Show, going on sale in the US in December that year. That makes it just over two years old now, which makes it ripe for a facelift in about a year's time, if it keeps to its regular five year lifecycle.
This is the first time we're seeing the facelifted Honda CR-V on test, and while it's wearing black tape as disguise, lots of the facelift's details can be made out from under the covers.
We notice that the front grille has been revised from a triple bar grille design to a double-bar design, exposing more of the bottom half of the grille, giving it a sportier look. The foglamp shape on the front bumper have also been switched from a circular design to a rectangular one.
From the side, we notice that the CR-V gets new alloy wheel designs that look similiar to the new Honda City's. There are also some visual changes at the rear - we can see there's a new bar that runs across the back where the Honda badge is. That same area is currently flat but finished in black. The rear bumper has also been reshaped.
Of course, we can only observe exterior changes from these spyshots. There will probably be some revisions to the interior as well. We think the interior will at least gain a new head unit that supports those new HDMI ports that Honda seem to be putting in all of their new cars, including the facelifts.
Don't get too excited yet though. The CR-V facelift is still quite some time away from a Malaysian launch. The next generation Honda Jazz will be the next car to be launched here in Malaysia.
