It looks like the Audi A3 Sedan will be launched very soon - we sighted this trailer-load of A3 Sedans in Glenmarie yesterday and managed to capture a few photos of it thanks to the massive double parking in that area, which caused the trailer to have issues making its way through, presumably to the Euromobil outlet just around the corner.

We're assuming all the Audi A3 Sedans on this particular trailer are of the same spec, since they all have the same wheels and the same exterior outlook. The badging on these cars were covered up with protective covering while they were on the trailer, however after they were delivered to the showroom, we saw multiple units being test driven around Glenmarie, which revealed a 1.4T badge on the boot lid.

This 1.4T model is powered by a 140 PS, 240 Nm 1.4 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, mated to a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 8.3 seconds.

We learned of the Audi A3's upcoming launch at an Audi roadshow at Bangsar Shopping Centre back in April this year. At that point, a launch date of before the end of June was indicated with two variants - a front wheel drive 1.4 litre model as well as a higher powered 1.8 litre model with quattro all-wheel drive.

Sightings on local car classifieds such as oto.my have pointed to an indicative price of just under RM180k for the 1.4T model. The more powerful 1.8T quattro model is expected to compete against the new Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 in terms of pricing. The 1.8 TFSI engine does 180 PS and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. The 0-100 km/h sprint is done in 7.2 seconds.

The A3 Sedan is built on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform, which is also used by the new Volkswagen Golf Mk7. A sedan built on a platform also used by the Golf would probably remind you of the Volkswagen Jetta, but the Jetta is based on an older platform.
