2015 audi tt sketch 1

Not long to go before the wraps officially come off the 2015 Audi TT - the third-generation two-door sports car will debut in Geneva next month. The interior was revealed last month at the CES, and now Ingolstadt has begun teasing the exterior form beyond that first offered by the Audi allroad shooting brake concept, kicking off the new TT run with a series of sketches.

Of course, we've all seen the real deal, courtesy of a series of spyshots of the coupe, from the time it was sighted being benchmarked against the Peugeot RCZ and Mercedes-Benz SLK to more recently, when it was caught on camera with very little camo strapped on.

Audi says that the new car's design line is reminiscent of the first model generation, which arrived on the scene in 1998. Technical highlights will include the Audi virtual cockpit, which features a fully digital instrument cluster equipped with a 12.3-inch TFT monitor, and Matrix LED headlights, where controllable individual light-emitting diodes generate the main beam.

The new car, which will be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group's flexible MQB platform, promises to be lighter and more dynamic than before, be it in front-wheel drive or quattro guise – in terms of engines, a 180 hp 1.8 litre TFSI should form the baseline model, followed by 2.0 litre TFSI and TDI variants, which will offer 220 hp and 150 hp respectively.
