Less than a year after its global launch, the Peugeot 2008 has passed the 100,000-unit production milestone. Main production in Mulhouse, France has so far seen three increases to the current 680 units a day - double the rate at launch.

According to Peugeot, the higher Allure and Feline trim levels account for 68% of sales - evidence of the French carmaker's move up-market in the B-segment.

In the UK, over 5,000 units have found homes, with the level of conquest sales currently standing at an impressive 70%. Dealers have been asked to sell another 18,000 in 2014, and 1,194 have been registered in January alone.

Last year, analyst IHS Automotive predicted that the Peugeot 2008 would quickly overtake the Nissan Juke to lead the B-SUV segment, which it said will surpass half a million sales by 2015. That's nearly 70% up from 2012.

IHS Automotive expected 200,000 Peugeot 2008s to be sold in 2015, with half of that number built in Mulhouse for Europe and other markets (apart from South America and China). 45,000 will be made in Brazil, and the remainder in China.

We wonder how it's doing in Malaysia so far - the Ford EcoSport and Honda Vezel have yet to arrive. The Peugeot 2008 went on sale here last month, wearing a RM119,888 price tag. Prior to its local launch, we drove the crossover in Alsace, France - read our review here.
