mazda hazumi teaser sketch

The Mazda Hazumi concept will be making its debut in Geneva, and the subcompact study is set to offer a view of how the new 2015 Mazda2 will shape up. The current third-gen DE (known as the Demio in its home market) has been around since 2007, so a replacement is well due.

Nothing aside from a teaser sketch of the Hazumi, which means "bound" or "spring up" in Japanese, but the automaker adds that the choice of name is 'particularly well-suited to a small car that appears to be bursting with energy'. In keeping in line with Hiroshima's current styling direction, the Hazumi should be brimming with cues from its Kodo design language.

The little 'un isn't going to be the only world premiere from the brand at the Swiss show - Mazda will also be showcasing its newly-developed small displacement clean diesel engine, the SkyActiv-D 1.5. More on the duo when Geneva begins.
