KW suspensions need little introduction, but this new product from the German specialist caught our eye. It's the KW DDC ECU coilovers with optional smartphone app control for the Audi RS Q3.

You see, the first RS SUV from Ingolstadt doesn't come with active dampers, but a fixed sports suspension that's 25 mm lower and is "tuned to deliver flat cornering without forsaking equally important everyday ride comfort." The standard Q3 can be ordered with adjustable dampers with a Comfort mode.

KW's coilovers for the RS Q3 provides targeted damper adjustment as well as continuous lowering of 15 to 45 mm at the front and rear axle. The KW DDC retrofit button allows the driver to select Sport+, Sport and Comfort modes from the cockpit.

Optional app-control with Apple iOS or Android allows one to control all that and more from a smartphone. To enable app-control over a secure WiFi connection, the addition of a KW WLAN box is necessary, while the app is available as a free download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

For those who do not need Comfort mode but still want individual damper setup, KW has "Variant 3" coilovers with 16-step adjustable rebound damping. Compression damping is separately adjustable in twelve clicks. This allows one to tinker around with wheel and tyre (19- or 20-inch wheels are available from the factory) choices, KW says.

Powered by a 2.5 litre five-cylinder TFSI with 310 PS and 420 Nm, the RS Q3 does 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Info and gallery here, and also watch a video of it in action.
