Brace yourselves. Honda has teased the fourth-gen Honda Civic Type R hatch ahead of its scheduled debut next month at the 2014 Geneva show.
The sketch reveals a very muscular and aggressive back end, augmented by flared and vented wheel arches, a dramatic two-tier rear wing incorporating tail lamps, striking alloys and quad tailpipes within an aggressive-looking rear diffuser.
When it goes on sale in 2015, the latest iteration of the legend will draw at least 280 PS from a new VTEC TURBO 2.0 litre turbocharged direct-injection engine, becoming the first Type R model to be turbocharged. Earlier teaser images revealed a 7,000-rpm redline - not stratospheric for a Type R but pretty respectable for a turbo.
Honda is targeting the Nurburgring record for FWD cars with this one - an early prototype has been evaluated on the track, where it set a time "approaching the lap record" currently held by the Renault Megane RS 265 Trophy.
Honestly, Geneva just can't come soon enough.
