The long list of world debutants in Geneva now includes the McLaren 650S, a new British supercar that will slot in between the LaFerrari-chasing P1 and 458 Italia-fighting 12C. Rumour has it that McLaren is working on a new 12C-based road racer to rival the 458 Speciale, and this 650S could very well be just that.
The 650S moniker suggests that it will have as much as 650 PS from McLaren's Ricardo-built 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, enough to eclipse the Speciale's 605 PS. Weight should be down from the 12C's 1,399 kg too, closer to the Ferrari's 1,290 kg benchmark. You can expect a sub-three second 0-100 km/h time.
Only the badge above has been revealed so far, other than McLaren's statement that the new model is designed and developed to offer "the ultimate in luxury, engagement and excitement, as well as dramatic yet beautiful styling." Well, the Brits are not exactly known for their humility and subtlety. Or are they?
