Here's a brutal Bug for the ongoing Chicago Auto Show: the Volkswagen Rallycross Beetle. Volkswagen is partnering with Andretti Autosport to form the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team, and is running two cars in the series for drivers Tanner Foust and Scott Speed.
The team will begin the Global Rallycross season with modified Polo rally cars (built on the 2013 WRC-winning chassis) and will switch during the season to this Rallycross Beetle, whose TSI engine sends more than 560 hp to all wheels.
"Red Bull Global Rallycross is the perfect form of motorsports for a youthful, exuberant, and growing brand in the U.S. market," said Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn. "We're excited to partner with Andretti Autosport, one of the great names in American motorsports, and delighted that we will be running the iconic Beetle in the series."
