The Suzuki S-Cross has bagged a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating under its Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category while a four-star score has been awarded under the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category. The results, published as part of the firm's 2015 Q2 test, sees the S-Cross receive an AOP score of 15.48 - the maximum is 16 - and a COP compliance rate of 81%.
For the test, a Malaysian-spec, Hungary-assembled Suzuki S-Cross 1.6L CVT was utilised - the first vehicle tested by ASEAN NCAP that is produced in Europe. Also, as a prerequisite for cars with four-star ratings and above, the S-Cross was subjected to a UN R95 side impact test, in which the S-Cross scored a 'Pass' rating.
The fitment of electronic stability control (ESC), Isofix and top tether points as standard has helped to ensure that the Suzuki S-Cross remains at the top of its class in terms of safety rating. Second place is occupied by the Honda CR-V with an AOP score of 15.46 (five-star) and a four-star COP rating with 86% compliance.
