Hot on the tail of Nissan's new Navara pick-up which was unveiled earlier this month is Mitsubishi's next generation Triton, which is set to get a global debut the next few months. Here's a first look at the new Triton, which was leaked onto a Thai pick-up truck enthusiast forum over the weekend.
Many of the design cues are taken from the Mitsubishi Concept GR-HEV pickup truck which was shown at the 2013 Bangkok Motor Show, although the production car is a lot tamer than the concept. The front end is dominated by lots of chrome arranged as vertical bars in the front grille.
Mitsubishi and Nissan had plans to jointly engineer this Triton and the recently launched Navara, but we learned last week that the project did not pass feasibility studies and both parties decided to continue developing their pick-up offering separately.
