Michelin has introduced two new truck tyres for the Malaysian market - the all-terrain X Works Z and highway-optimised X Line Energy Z.

The X Works Z (left) features a new uniform-footprint tread design, wider and more open grooves, plus a more robust crown architecture.

The result of all that is more even wear, better lateral grip and water evacuation, as well as higher resistance to crown impacts, providing better casing value for retreads. The tyre has been designed to carry up to 7.1 tonnes per axle in single fitment and up to 13 tonnes per axle in dual fitment.

The X Line Energy Z (right), on the other hand, targets long-haul transport companies. Using low-rolling resistance technology, the tyre claims to save fleets up to 515 litres of fuel over 130,000 km, equating to a CO2 emissions reduction of 1,371 kg.

"Michelin X Line Energy Z also provides up to 20% longer tread life which helps our customers gain optimal performance and lower costs of operation from their tyres," said Michelin Malaysia MD Beltran Yturriaga.

He added that the X Line Energy Z will meet the needs of customers looking to maximise the value of their tyre through long first life mileage, multiple retreads and fuel savings.

Michelin's X Works Z and X Line Energy Z all-position tubeless tyres are available now in a sole 295/80 R22.5 size.
