First spied undergoing trials near the Nurburgring last year, the new Hyundai Tucson is due to make its global debut in Geneva early next month. Ahead of that, the Korean automaker has presented a first view of what to expect through a design sketch.

The depiction presents a SUV with a more mature and sophisticated design language than the vehicle it'll replace, with a design characterised by flowing surfaces, bold proportions, sharp lines and the brand signature hexagonal grille.

There's also a teaser video showing the creation of a first design sketch of the third-gen offering, complete with a design insight from Hyundai Motor Group's president and chief design officer Peter Schreyer.

Technical details will likely have to wait until the vehicle is introduced at the Swiss show, but as previously reported, the powertrain solutions for the new Tucson aren't expected to veer from that currently available for the second-gen - the existing range of 1.6 litre to 2.4 litre Gamma, Nu and Theta II petrol engines as well as 1.7 and 2.2 litre CRDi diesels are expected to feature on the new car, as will the six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes found now.
