BRABUS 850 6.0 Biturbo Coupe 01

You can never have enough power, insists Brabus. Well, for those who think that the "standard" Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe with all of its 585 hp and 900 Nm could do with more go, there's this, the Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Coupe. This beast of a car gets upgraded to 850 hp and 1,450 Nm of torque.

The Brabus can get to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, on to an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (the Brabus speedo goes to 400 km/h, just saying). That's a fair bit quicker than what the base S 63 AMG Coupe 4Matic it's based on can manage (0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, 250 km/h top speed).

Brabus claims this is the fastest and most powerful all-wheel drive coupe there ever is. To achieve the extra dose of speed, the original AMG engine has gone through quite a few changes. Longer-stroke crankshaft plus enlarged cylinder bore and forged pistons, for starters, increase displacement from 5,461 cc to 5,912 cc.

Then come the two Brabus turbochargers with larger compressor units and modified exhaust manifolds, next to the reworked intake module. The intake uses carbon-fibre air ducts, complete with Brabus Gold Heat Reflection sheathing on numerous pipes.

It wouldn't be a proper Brabus if it doesn't look a long mile past extreme, and so it does. Wind tunnel-tested carbon-fibre aero appendages are fitted all around the car, matched to clear-coated carbon-fiber diffuser housing the sports exhaust system. The wheels pictured are 21-inch items, though larger sizes are available.

The Brabus 850 is just, if not even more extreme inside. Especially soft and breathable black Mastik leather is used generously within the cabin, paired (matched doesn't seem to be the right word here) to plenty of copper seams and piping.

Everything that is usually silver in the Mercedes interior has been coated in the same Shadow Gold tone used on the Brabus Monoblock F wheels. All the wood panels, meanwhile, are gone, replaced by carbon-fibre elements, whereas the paddle shifters, foot pedals and door pins are now made of aluminium.

The Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Coupe is available as a complete vehicle, and can also be built on the basis of any current Mercedes S 63 Coupe. Some say when you've got it, flaunt it. We say the normal AMG model is flashy enough, thank you very much.
