The Kia Rio Sedan facelift made its debut in Chicago alongside its five-door sibling. Echoing the changes seen on the Euro-spec models, the car gets a revised front fascia that features an updated grille with a "geometric pattern" that's supposed to bring it in line with the latest Kia models.
Elsewhere, the front bumper now incorporates several horizontal bars for a more aggressive look while the fog light surrounds are dressed in chrome. On the highest of the three available trim lines, 17-inch alloy wheels are featured. At the rear, the reflectors have been moved to the outer edge of the redesigned bumper. Two new colours, Urban Blue and Digital Yellow, have been added to this round of updates.
No mechanical changes are touted, leaving the facelifted Kia Rio to soldier on with a naturally-aspirated 1.6 litre inline-four engine. It pumps out 138 hp and 167 Nm of torque. Power goes to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox (standard on the sedan) or a six-speed auto (standard on the five-door).
Changes on the inside include the addition of more "high-density foam" in the A- and B-pillars, which should lead to a drop in NVH levels. The centre console gets a piano black finish while the bezels on the air-con vents now sport a satin-finish.
Opting for the range-topping SX trim adds on paddle shifters as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Apart from that, a power runroof, start-stop button, heated front seats, Supervision instrument cluster and an upgraded navigation7 system with a reverse camera comes as standard on the SX.
