Audi A7 Sportback

The covers have been pulled off the facelifted Audi A7 Sportback range – including the S7 – four years after the original car was launched. The handsome sedan-with-a-hatch have been given a refresh with new looks, infotainment systems, transmissions and engines, including a highly-efficient diesel V6.

From the front, both the A7 (the silver model in the pictures is fitted with the S line package) and the S7 get a reshaped six-point grille, subtly rejigged bumpers and side skirts and TT-esque head- and tail lights (LED headlights are now standard fit, with LED matrix items optional). The S7 is further differentiated with unique grille inserts, silver door mirrors and quad exhausts.

The interior has also been freshened up with new aluminium and Beaufort walnut inlay choices and a new colour palette, including a new Lunar silver option for S line models, as well as new Valcona leather options for non-S line models. Also included is the latest generation of Audi's Multi Media Interface (MMI) which features a touchpad that allows users to scroll through and zoom in and out of lists and maps as well as LTE connectivity.

Available from launch are five engines – two petrol, three diesel – with power outputs ranging from 218 PS to 333 PS. The 3.0 TDI has been revised and now produces 272 PS. In addition, there is a 218 PS ultra version of the engine, available only with front-wheel drive, which delivers an impressive 25.6 km per litre.

A revised seven-speed S tronic dual clutch gearbox replaces the Multitronic CVT on front-wheel drive models, joining the rest of the range bar the updated 320 PS 3.0 TDI biturbo, which has an eight-speed tiptronic automatic. Some engine configurations are also fitted with new lightweight brakes.
