The yet-to-be-launched BMW X6 fighter from Stuttgart, now reportedly called the Mercedes-Benz ML Coupe (following the naming convention set by the E-Class Coupe, C-Class Coupe and S-Class Coupe), already has an AMG version in development, as these spyshots from our European photographers now confirm.
From the deeper front fascia, larger air intakes, enormous wheels over cross drilled and slotted brakes and the quad rhombus tailpipes, it is clear that this particular ML Coupe (ML 63 AMG Coupe?) is not to be messed with, taking the fight right up to the inevitable next-generation X6 M.
Expect the high-performance low-slung SUV to be powered by AMG's existing 5.5 litre twin-turbocharged V8 (in it current form seen in cars like the new S 63 AMG Coupe, it produces 585 hp and 900 Nm), rather than the new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 that will be making its debut in the C 63 AMG and Mercedes-AMG GT later this year.
With the regular ML Coupe expected to premiere in the first half of 2015 (possibly at Geneva), the AMG version should follow not too far down the line. Frankfurt 2015, maybe?
