At the 2014 Worthersee Treffen show, Seat will be presenting an "open-top fun-mobile" called the Ibiza Cupster. Marking the 30th anniversary of the Ibiza (first gen had a cabrio), the Cupster is an Ibiza Cupra hot hatch with its roofed lopped off. In place is a low, wrap-around strip of glass pretending to be a windscreen.
"The Ibiza has always been the heart of Seat - a young, dynamic car with an emotional design, a good head for the practical things in life and excellent value for money. At Worthersee, we are celebrating the anniversary of our most successful model with the unique Ibiza Cupster, not to mention the exceptionally well-equipped 30 Years edition and a great programme," said Jürgen Stackmann, president of Seat.
VW's Spanish brand says that the driver and co-driver are well protected thanks to the seating position, which is 80 mm lower than in the production supermini. The dark grey cover behind the classic double-bubble style seats appear like an island in a sea of "New Orange" paintwork. No production plans though, just a one-off.
