The Toyota Prius+, as what it is known in Europe or Prius V in America, has received a mild update for the 2015 model year. Changes include updated styling - that brings it more in line to current design cues, added equipments and colour choices.
An updated front end consists of a new upper grille with the Toyota badge now sitting further out in front. New cylindrical projector headlight assemblies contain LED technology for both the low and high beam. Finer details include a contrasting black and chrome plating in the headlight modules.
Faint traces of an 'X' design is present on the front end due to the lower grille adopting a trapezoidal shape that's currently being featured on the latest Toyota models. At both corners, revised air intake designs with the LED daytime running lights seamlessly integrated complete the changes.
Biggest update on the rear is the adoption of new taillight designs, which feature a "light guide" treatment and red inner lenses. At a quick glance, the design does seem to echo the rear light design of the latest Subaru Forester. Other updates include a new license plate trim and a revised bumper with a diffuser.
Updates for the interior include a dark silver metallic finish for the driver's switchgear and air-conditioning dial control as well as chrome finish on the door handles. A new 4.2-inch colour TFT information screen sits on the upper housing of the centre console, providing data on fuel consumption and such.
The updated Prius is fitted with the Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system which includes a touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity and a reverse camera. An upgrade is available - dubbed the 'Toyota Touch 2 Go', which provides satellite navigation, live traffic information and text-to-speech functions amongst many more.
As for added equipment, electric seat adjustments and Intelligent Park Assist are now offered. An emergency brake signal - which triggers all side indicators in the event of sudden and heavy braking, is also featured along with Hill-start Assist Control.
The updated Toyota Prius+ is Euro6 emissions compliant and comes with two new colours for the European market, 'Dark Sherry metallic' and 'Attitude Black mica'. New sound absorption material has been added into the rear compartment to improve NVH levels.
