This new video features the forthcoming Honda Civic Type R's large project leader Suehiro Hasshi on his yet-to-be-launched baby. His new Type R will be the first to feature a turbocharged engine, which Honda says will put out over 280 PS to the front wheels via a six-speed manual. The engine has a 7,000 rpm redline.

There's still some time before the car gets a world debut - in the meanwhile, the company has updated the Civic Type R concept for the upcoming Paris Motor Show with a new blue paint job.

The new Type R will ride on a new four-point adaptive damper system. There will also be a "+R" mode selectable for track driving, which adjusts the engine mapping, steering, and damper system.

Honda intends for the new Civic Type R to break the current record for the fastest front wheel drive lap time at the Nurburgring, currently held by the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R with a lap time of 7 min 54.36 seconds.
