Bigger is always better, right? With the announcement of the BMW X7 last year, Munich would most definitely agree - and it's not just a wild rumour. Back then, it was stated that the range-topping crossover would be assembled alongside the X3, X4, X5 and X6 at BMW's new plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Now, more information, sourced from motor.es, has been revealed and things are looking suitably epic, indeed. First off, the new model is now slated to make its world debut some time late 2017 or early 2018 and will, apparently, share most of its components with the impending Rolls-Royce SUV.

Internally known as "G07", the BMW X7 will ride on the firm's HPLC (Cluster Architecture) platform, which was then referred to as the '35up' platform and will debut for the first time on the new G11 7 Series. Looks wise, the closest hint arrives in the form of renderings by Theophilus Chin.

Here, the signature kidney grille layout gets super-sized while the head lamps themselves feature a more contemporary, slimmer outlook. It's only when one moves along that the sheer scale of the (rendered) crossover really starts to set in. Things get a little conservative at the back, though - with twin, squared-off exhaust outlets embedded into the diffuser-like rear bumper.

The BMW X7 is expected to share its suspension setup with the BMW X5 and X6 - rear- and all-wheel xDrive options will be included. Apart from the usual array of petrol and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid variant is also on the cards. At the very top of the range, a 6.0 litre V12 engine is expected to make an appearance - making this the first X model to be powered by a 12-cylinder engine.

Nothing solid about the interior has been divulged, unfortunately, but rest assured that the BMW X7 will easily fit seven inside and boast one of, if not the, most opulent interior layout to grace a BMW model. While it's still too soon to know for sure, sources are already indicating that the flagship Beemer will carry a base price of circa €130,000 (RM516,250.70).
