Mazda has unveiled the Mazda 2 1.3 SkyActiv-G at the ongoing 2015 Bangkok International Motor Show. Standard, High and High Plus variants are available, as well as sedan and hatch bodystyles, and they're all motivated by a 1.3 SkyActiv-G petrol engine and a six-speed auto (with Sport mode as standard).
The little engine develops 93 PS at 5,800 rpm and 123 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm - that's 19 PS and 25 Nm down on our 1.5 petrol, and 12 PS and 127 Nm less than the Thai-market 1.5 diesel.
Equipment-wise, the 1.3 petrol actually apes the 1.5 diesel's equipment in Thailand, spec-for-spec, except for the wheels - here, they're all 15s (capped steel for Standard) whereas the diesel has 15- and 16-inch alloys.

As such, the Standard variant features manual air-con, keyless start, i-stop, a satin gear lever surround without a gloss black base, pyjama-like fabric seats and a radio where you'd expect to find the MZD Connect screen. The steering wheel is not leather-wrapped and there are no phone controls.
The High variant nets you alloy wheels, auto single-zone air-con, keyless entry, textured gloss grey trim on the dashboard, gloss black gear lever base, shiny silver trim on the gear lever surround and lower steering wheel spoke, plus blue fabric seats. Both Standard and High use the low-spec centre-speedo instrument panel.
The High Plus is the one we're familiar with - you'll find the MZD Connect touch-screen and Commander Control knob, head-up display, aluminium pedals, leather seats with red stripes, a leather-trimmed dashboard, a leather-covered steering wheel with phone controls, plus the high-spec digital-speedo instrument panel.
