Individuals who fancy having their cars decked out in matte paint schemes or wraps or whatever it is that's currently trending, Peugeot might have the answer for you. The French marque has introduced two variations of what it calls 'textured colours' (first for a production vehicle) to the palette of the Peugeot 208 facelift.
Set to go on sale in the summer of 2015, the Peugeot 208 facelift will feature 'Ice Grey' and 'Ice Silver' on its list of options. Both colour schemes are set to possess a mixture of matte and satin finish, allowing it a more receptive outlook under different variations of light compared to matte finishes.
Peugeot claims that its textured paint finish is far more durable than conventional matte finishes, resisting micro-scratches better. Consistent washing under high-pressure jet washes pose no problems although waxing is not recommended in order to prolong the life of the paint finish.
On top of the conventional base coat, the final layer of lacquer consists of silica compounds and polyamide micro-beads - the former provides the matte-like appearance while the latter gives it the required textural finish. The options are expected to cost below €800 (RM3,193).
