Uber Malaysia has announced a price revision for its uberX service. Stating a need to "compensate Uber Partners (drivers) fairly," the firm has introduced its updated fares which go into effect on May 6.
The base fare to hire an uberX car now begins at RM2, up from RM1.50. Costs per kilometre/minute have also been hiked up, with 35 sen charged for every minute and 70 sen per kilometre - up 15 sen from the previous figures on both criteria. The outgoing minimum fare has been increased by RM1 to RM3.50. Cancellation fees remain unchanged at RM5.
In light of the increased fares, Uber still maintains that its uberX services are up to 20% cheaper when compared to regular taxis. In other news, Uber Singapore, along with its partner, Dream Drive, have teamed up to offer a supercar service for those looking to make a larger than necessary entrance.
