We probably won't see tuned versions of the Mercedes-Benz S 400 Hybrid because of its normally aspirated engine, but the S 500 Plug-In Hybrid (now called S 500 e) has been given the Brabus touch, probably because of its more easily tune-able 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 engine. In tuned form, it's called the Brabus PowerXtra B50 Hybrid.
The stock 333 PS, 480 Nm engine has been upgraded to 385 PS and 550 Nm of torque. This was achieved with revised mapping for injection and ignition as well as increased boost pressure. The electric motor hasn't been touched. Combined output is now 500 PS and 890 Nm, allowing the Brabus PowerXtra B50 Hybrid to hit 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Of course, to complete the whole Brabus transformation the car gets a new front bumper as well as other kit. The tuned up engine exhales through a Brabus sports exhaust system.
You can fit either a 21 inch forged Brabus Platinum Edition wheel with 255/35ZR21 and 295/30ZR21 staggered tyres or upsize to a 22 inch Brabus Monoblock G Platinum Edition wheel with 255/30ZR22 and 295/25ZR22 staggered tyres.
