A rather disturbing video on the Internet has come to our attention: one showing a Malaysian car thief – already under arrest and in handcuffs – demonstrating just how easy it is to steal a car, bypassing its on-board alarm and immobiliser systems.

Scarily enough, the process doesn't take much effort at all, it seems. Equipped with a "master key" and an on-board diagnostic (OBD) tool of some sort, the perpetrator managed to get into the Honda City, disabled its alarm and started the engine within a minute or so.

This is not a guide, obviously, but rather a timely reminder that having car alarm and immobiliser systems are no longer enough to keep your vehicle safe. We should take all the necessary precautions to avoid such unfortunate situations from happening.
