Mitsubishi's new Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) system for both Google's Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be available on the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero that will be launched in Europe this summer. The new big SUV will be the first MMC model to be fitted with SDA and the company will gradually expand the system's availability in other models and regions.
SDA allows users of Android smartphones or iPhones to connect to the car's dashboard display using a USB cable. The system is designed to allow the driver, either by using the touchscreen or by voice control, to access navigation and other apps on their phone, make and receive calls, send and receive text messages and listen to music, among other things.
Using the latest maps and apps from smartphones also means that updating map information for the car's navigation system becomes a thing of the past. Check out the videos to see how Android Auto and Apple CarPlay work. Windows Phone users, sorry.
