Renault Clio RS Trophy-leaked

Just last week, the folks at Renault Sport dropped a teaser, showing what could very well be the Renault Clio RS Trophy. Now, it appears that the rumours are true with two images of the car making their way onto the web. The firm itself is planning to drop the covers at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

While not much is known about the powertrain, it is safe to assume that the hottest Clio will be powered by a retuned version of the 1.6 litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine currently employed in the Clio RS 200 EDC. It produces 200 hp and 240 Nm of torque in its current application, leading many to believe that the Renault Clio RS Trophy will arrive on the scene with no less than 220 hp.

With the two available shots, the one depicting the rear end looks closer to what an official photo is like - and it looks tastefully fast. With stylised, double five-spoke wheels and blackened roof, the Renault Clio RS Trophy looks like it's ready to cut quite a figure on the road.

The second image is even more unrestrained as it shows the front quarter of the car, replete with racy-looking graphics and the same set of red, multi-spoke red alloy wheels found on the Renault Megane RS Trophy-R. The last, and arguably the most important, bit of information still eludes the motoring public - will the Renault Clio RS Trophy be available with a no-nonsense manual gearbox? Watch this space.
