This is the 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition, the closest road-going Corvette there is to the Corvette Racing C7.R racecars. Offered on coupe and convertible models with 3LZ trim, only 500 examples of the C7.R Edition will be built and all will include the Z07 Performance Package with carbon ceramic brakes, plus a serialised vehicle identification number.
"Corvette Racing's legacy and technology were significant influences on the development of the Corvette Z06 and the new C7.R Edition honors the direct link between the racecar and the production model. It also advances Chevrolet's plan to offer special-edition models that offer a unique, personal ownership experiences, which become important parts of Corvette's legacy," said Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager.
The C7.R Edition is available in Corvette Racing's Yellow Tintcoat or black, with C7.R Edition graphics, yellow brake calipers, black wheels with yellow accent strip, Corvette Racing-logo centre caps, visible carbon fibre ground effects package and hood section, grilles and vents in Spectra Gray Metallic and the Z07 Performance Package with Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tyres.
Inside, the special edition gets a Jet Black leather interior with suede microfibre accents on the instrument panel, doors, Competition Sport Seat, steering wheel and shifter. There's also yellow contrast stitching, a CF trim package, Corvette Racing sill plates and a numbered interior plaque showing the VIN. Also thrown in is an indoor car cover with C7.R graphics.
The Corvette Z06, dubbed the most track-capable Corvette in the brand's history, is powered by a 650 hp supercharged 6.2 litre V8 engine paired to either a seven-speed manual or eight-speed auto. "The Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition offers capability matched only by an elite fraternity of the world's supercars and special-edition exclusivity that is sure to make it an instant collector's item," Charles boasts.
